Marketing spend resists recession
A new survey of UK businesses, by research company Shape the Future, has found that marketing spend is predicted to rise over the next 12 months despite the recession. The money is most likely to go on websites (58.9 percent) and PR (42.5 percent). One fifth of businesses surveyed (19.7 percent) also planned to increase spend on website optimisation.

Companies more likely to increase marketing spend were business services companies. Only 9 percent of companies surveyed planned to reduce their marketing budgets for the coming year  
 
The importance of .uk
Recent independent research highlighted that British Internet users are six times more likely to choose a .uk rather than a .com address when looking for information via an Internet search engine. In addition respondents also added that when asked about searching for a particular company on the Internet, 72% said they would visit a British web address above any other. This information was published by Nominet -  the not for profit membership organisation which has around 3000 members  responsible for running one of the world's largest internet registries -  the .uk namespace.
